Birds, bees, and books
Al: how do people write books?
Me: well, they start with some words. Those words become sentences, which in turn grow into paragraphs. Paragraphs become chapters, chapters start working on plots. Then those plots hopefully grow up into novels.
Al: that is NOT what I meant
Me: good. Because it seems quite awkward to have this conversation at your age. I thought you already knew where books came from.
Al: [blank stare. Eye roll. Get up. Walk away]
I love having teenagers.
